Week 7, 8, 9 Oral Presentation

Dear all,

It has been quite some time since I have posted something on this blog (I guess some of you were already literally popping champagne bottle celebrating ^^).  Well, sorry guys! I have to make you work your brains again woohoo ~(^V^)~

For the past three (3) weeks you have witnessed your friends present their topic of interest and at the same time you have shared yours to the class. Good job to all of you as I can see you have place great effort to complete this task. I hope you have come to accept the criticisms (positive and negative ones) that I have made after each individual presentation sessions and I sincerely hope you can take the points that I have highlighted as a means of improving your own presentation skills for the near future.

I believe you might have a thought or two on your own performance during the presentation and perhaps you have things to comment on your friends' presentations. You may use the following guidelines to help you write your reflection:-

1. Evaluate your own performance. Was it your best shot? Yes/No? Why?

2. If "Yes", highlight your own strenght.

3. If "No", suggest ways to improve and overcome these shortcomings.

4. How did your friends perform?

5. What are the things you can learn from your friends' presentation?

If you wish to write your reflection based on your own style and set of guidelines, you are welcomed to do so by all means.

Lastly, give yourself a pet on the shoulder and chant this three times "I was good but I know I can be better!"

Have a great week folks :)

  1. 1. Well, I think my part for the presentation, I didn't give the best shot. Still, stumbling with the vocab and pronouncing. I guess I was too nervous while presenting.

    3. To improve and overcome these shortcomings, I guess practice on speaking is compulsory. And I think that doing more presentation also contribute in improving presenting skills as this helps to cope with stage fright.
    4. Overall, I feel that everyone presented very well. My favorite group was Gaayethri and Devagi's group, about vampires. I feel that their topic was really interesting. Maybe it's because my own interest for vampires. I'm not sure what my other friends think about it, but for me, it was great.
    5. There are many things to learn from different aspects, such as self-confidence, powerful vocabulary skills, clear speaking and others. These are important for a good presentation and I will try my best to apply these in my next presentation. =)

  2. 1. Well, for my part of the presentation, I think I didn't give the best out of me. I guess my presentation will be more good if I was not dependable in my notes.

    3. To improve my weakness, I think I must take sufficient practice on speaking.
    4. Comparing all groups, my favorite was Monisha, Delfy and Kishan's group. For me, it was very interesting to explore different menu of food. I guess many of my friends was feeling disgusted with the food presented, but for me I was looking forward for the dishes.
    5. There are plenty of things to be learned from my friends. Presenting skills, usage of vocabulary, confidence, and many more.

  3. ehem...was my presentation my best shot? NOPE, I was still nervous, still shivering, still not confidence enough =( aih...
But, I found myself improved a lot compared to last time. At least this time I'm not really shivering until no voice came out from my throat. I think I'd become much steady each time I present. Though, I'm still not good enough.

    Ways to improve:
    i. Be confidence. This is pretty important. As a presenter, I must be confidence when presenting myself. I knew, and I'm learning it.
ii. Be well prepared. Yup, prepare the materials well, and myself as well. Thoroughly understand the topic to-be-present is very important.
iii. Make sure I'm healthy. aha..I was sick during the presentation. If I wasn't sick, I think I can present better. =(

erm...I was sick, and I only viewed few presentation which is from Rose's group-illusion, Kamala's group-origami, and, Nagis' group-disneyland. I think, most of them had well presented, though some stage-fright symptoms did appeared too =P

I think it's really important to choose a title to present. An interesting topic will be really eye-catching and encourage interactions between presenter and audience, making the atmosphere more comfortable.

Throughout the whole presentation, I learned that confidence is really important in presentation. I also learned some skills to catch audience's attention.

    =) Rinee
